My Fred Ives Graptoveria has been dropping leaves and developing these spots before the leaves drop. Does anyone know what this is? A few months ago I had been treating with milk mixed with water to get rid of what I thought was a powdery mildew outbreak, but these spots look different than the ones on the other plants that have since recovered. I’ve also tried spraying with neem oil and moving them to a less sunny spot but haven’t been able to help them. Any tips would be appreciated!

    This looks a lot like root problems. That soil is probably holding too much moisture around the roots which is causing the infections and droopy/dying leaves. The little patches of gray fungus on the leaves looks like it’s coming from the inside of the plant where the cells are creating a water buildup. Definitely get them into a much better draining soil with pumice or coarse sand to allow the roots to breathe and dry better. I would keep them somewhere sunny still as that will also help with the moisture. Succulents love to dry out completely between waterings and (speaking from experience) those softer mushy leaves is the main sign to me. I hope this helps you save them, and once they’ve recovered, there are ways to grow whole new buds from the stem where each leaf has fallen off.

      Thank you for the advice! The leaves are actually really dry when wrinkly and falling off (no mushy parts). Does that change the thinking at all or does it still seem like too much moisture? I water them about once every three weeks and have several propagating in the same cactus and succulent soil in a different box already but those ones don’t seem to be having any issues like this.

    I had a clipping of my graptoveria attempting to root and propagate but my partner accidentally watered it, when I came home yesterday it was crispy and black like it had been fried in the sun but that’s the only clipping she accidentally watered and it’s the only one that died, but if you haven’t had any of your propagations die off like that in the same soil it could be that the propagations just don’t have any roots sitting deep enough to be in enough moisture. The top 1/2-1” of soil will be dryer than where the roots are on the adult plants. I would at least check one of the worst looking adults and inspect the root system, if it stinks it’s root rot causing the damage, if it’s just super moist, the succulent is just pushing the water too aggressively to the ends of the leaves. I don’t think it really looks like fungus or pest damage but sometimes they’re sneaky like that.
