Those are mostly likely fungus gnats, they are the worst! Get some sticky traps, mosquito bits, and some neem oil because they are hard to keep away.

You should get some type of carnivorous plant, either a sundew or pitcher type. Gnats are too small for a lot of the fly traps and they won’t close on them. That helped my set up a lot

Do you find that the carnivorous plants keep the gnat population down? I mean, I’m always happy to have an excuse to buy another plant so… if I *have* to get a carnivorous one, I will…

Yes, since I added a pitcher plant to my collection I don’t see any gnats anymore. I want to get a su few as well since I see one or two gnats every so often. I have mine by the humidifier and in some Leca/moss mix which seems to be working good so far and looks pretty cool

fungus gnats are usually present because your houseplants’ soil doesn’t drain well enough, and honestly it looks like your moon cactus is potted in mud or outdoor soil, which can easily rot and kill your cactus. cacti need a well-draining mix, especially indoors. the soil should be at least 50% inorganic matter like pumice, perlite, and coarse sand

Fungus nuts I have them too. They are the worst. They don’t actually harm adult plants immediately it takes a long time for it to harm adult plants, but they are very detrimental and can kill baby plants or newer propagations. You can get this type of insecticide. and you could get a carnivorous plant but in my experience my fungus nuts don’t really like to land on them and I tried getting a Venus flytrap and it didn’t work so you can try to get a different plant that Venus flytrap and it might work, but long-term I would suggest an insecticide, because then it prevents not only fungus, but a bunch of other bugs, too

So should I put it in a Room by itself and not with other plants

I am using diluted hydrogen peroxide to spray on the topsoil. Also wipe off the back of all the leaves with a wet paper towel.

With water? Should I put it in a different room?

Yes. Get it away from your other plants. Dilute it with water. Actually I threw out the soil b. I didn’t want the gnats to infect my healthy soil pants. I let the cuttings to propagate a new plant. V I just can’t deal with knats.
