I had this peperomia for ages (7 years now) and suddenly it’s throwing a gigantic fit! A long time ago I noticed this soggy, brown leaf in one of the branches that hang down the side of the pot. I plucked it off without any strength- Actually, I touched it and it just fell off. Now I’m getting more of them and I seriously don’t know what to do. I think it may be because overwatering, but I don’t think so because I’ve only been watering it once a month (or right on schedule). Please tell me anything! I’m clueless 🙂‍↔️😒😖 My peperomia=😩😤😎🫠🤮🍂

    Soggy does suggest overwatering… do you water it using a time-based schedule (or based on the app), or do you wait until the soil is completely dry before watering? These guys like to dry out completely (I don’t have experience with the “Thailand” variety but I do have a few years’ experience with a peperomia obtusifolia variegata)

    If it takes a month for the soil to dry out between waterings, then it could be the soil causing the overwatering, not your watering habits. Do you know what brand the soil is, perchance? Is it Miracle Grow? Even their cactus mix is too peat-heavy, and very prone to leading to overwatering and root rot. All my local nurseries refuse to sell or use it because of that, and warn buyers to avoid the brand entirely. I’d definitely start by removing as much of the soil you can to see the current root system. Snip off any rotted roots, then soak the whole root ball in a bowl/pot/cup with hydrogen peroxide for 20-30 minutes. This’ll kill any lingering bacteria from the rot. Take the plant out and pat the roots dry with a paper towel. After that, you could put some Bonide’s Rooting Hormone Powder on the roots before putting it in some fresh cactus mix to help it dry out better between waterings (this helps it grow new roots back much faster), or just put it straight into a new soil mix. I swear by Espoma’s Organic Cactus and Succulent Mix for my peperomias, but Espoma’s All-Purpose Mix with some added perlite and orchid bark is also good for these. The key with repotting peperomias is making sure the pot isn’t more than 1-2 inches wider in diameter than the plant’s root ball, NOT the size of the plant itself. They’re epiphytes, so they need very well-draining soil and not to sit in a lot of excess soil to survive living as a houseplant, since they don’t naturally live in soil where they come from.
