West Coast Plants

I got my Kalanchoe about a month ago and the blooms were great a first. Now they’re starting to brown and not fully form. I thought it was overwatering and have let it dry out more. Then I thought it was the wrong lighting. Too little light or too direct. I’m in the dark west coast so I had it close to grow lights but not directly. I get so much mixed advice online when I look stuff up. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

A kalanchoe is a succulent. It needs light, it seems bright outside if possible try to get it direct natural light for as long as possible. It can be hard to tell how much light is too much, so just be prepared to get a sunburnt plant while you’re figuring it out. As a succulent overwatering is a very dangerous thing, so check to see how easily the leaves bend before watering. It could also be root bound or need some fertilizer.

When I opened the ones I got from Walmart the soil was terrible. It was essentially a sponge just holding all the moisture that you could actually wring out. May be worth checking out the roots and soil
