Help! My prince of orange philodendron is not doing well and I don’t know why. The leaves feel very droopy and thin, and the edges of one of the leaves has turned brown/yellow and crispy. Any help on what is happening and how to fix it would be very much appreciated.

what kind of soil is it in? greenhouses often have plants in a peat/perlite blend for cost efficiency but a chunkier mix is much more suited to home growing since the peat holds way more moisture than is necessary in a darker, stiller environment

Not sure, it looks to be in some kind of chunky soil mix (I didn’t plant it). Another thing to note is the pot doesn’t have drainage holes, which could also be part of the issue.

lack of drainage holes is a death sentence for just about every plant. even experienced horticulturists cannot make a plant in a pot with no drainage truly thrive, it may survive for a while but lack of drainage even with proper watering will make for a very weak root system. i’d suggest using a plastic nursery pot with lots of holes at the bottom and a chunky mix. since you mentioned it rotting, i’d recommend spraying the roots with undiluted (3%, topical) hydrogen peroxide to kill any microbes causing the rot

Have you checked the roots for rot?

Yes actually and the roots did show sign of rot so I am about to repot it into a pot with better drainage

Ok. Be sure to cut off all of the rot
