Hi, still new to this app in general and this is my first orchid that Iāve rescued from a grocery store. Just wondering if the leaves should look like this or if I should do something about it just cause they donāt look terribly healthy. it seems these are the only two leaves affected the others have a little bit of browning on them, but they donāt have the weird spots in the browning of these to do
When the leaves look upset it usually means the roots are much worse off. You should remove any moss or whatever itās planted in from the roots and trim off any brown/black roots, any mushy/soggy roots, and then if the healthy ones are silver, give it a thorough watering, if theyāre green it doesnāt need water. Most people recommend replanting them in orchid bark but Iāve seen people just tie them to a piece of porous stone, some wood, etc. Theyāre epiphytic plants so they donāt need soil and thatās typically what causes them to die off.

2 gillningar We got this orchid today, cut off over half the roots as they were rotting in the peat moss it came in, and now the remaining roots are nice and happy after a (accidentally 240 minute long) soaking
