Hello everyone! I have a question. I bought my first monstera and it had been cut in some places when I bought it. The cut sections don't look great but I'm not sure what to do with them. Do I leave them alone or completely cut them right off? I'm by no means an expert in plants but I've always wanted this one so I need to make sure she's as happy as she can be. Don't judge my pot, this is what it came in, I'm just letting it get use to my house before changing to much. :) thanks

Leave them alone, they don’t do any harm to your plant and cutting them off creates an open wound, it might also just die on its own and allow the other leaves to climb out! Also, monsteras like to be in tight spaces, so that pot is perfectly unless it’s root bound!

I would suggest cutting them as close to the base as possible. From my understanding, when you water or fertilize, the plant sends a lot more nutrients to the dead part to try and help heal so the rest of the plant is lacking those nutrients. Which isn’t bad, it just won’t promote growth as quickly. I am no plant master though, when I started worrying about mine, I chopped it up and propagated all pieces lol
