I have a Rex begonia and although I know they are difficult this plant is kicking my butt. At first I followed plantas instructions but the leaves just kept dropping. Figured too little sun, then maybe too much, then too much water, so I gave it more. It has almost no roots, maybe five leaves and won’t stop dropping leaves. It looks healthy, a little wilted but it won’t stop dropping. HELP.

Begonias have a learning curve. I have several. Still trying to figure out my maculata, but it seems to be coming back. After trial and error, I now let them dry out till they may just be starting to wilt. And have a grow light on them at close distance. Currently it all seems to be working. I let the moisture meter get down to about 15% or less before I water. Pics of my Tiger paw and my escargot.

15% or less! That’s what I’d call really dry!! I just bought four new begonia babies, so I’m going to take your advice…🌵!

Yeah that’s what I thought too. Saw a YouTube video of a guy who let his dry out too. So I gave it a try. But I’m careful not to let it go lower.

I just forgot to mention that I think using terracotta planters has helped also. When I was checking out their root situation, I noticed how shallow the root system is, so I have the two above in shallow terracotta pots.
