Can anyone pleeeasse tell me what I’m doing wrong with my alocasias? 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Several of them have leaves that keep turning this pinky yellow colour and dropping even though other ones next to them are fine? Some are still Giving new growth while also turning 🤷🏼‍♀️ I use a moisture meter to check when they need watering - about once a week - so I don’t think it’s over or under watering. They’re next to a north facing window with a bit of shelter so they aren’t getting full sun. Please please help!

I don’t trust moisture meters. Check your roots (gently) — these don’t want to dry out at all, but also don’t want to sit in water at all lol, they all seem to be having different problems

I had trouble with my alocasia only being able to maintain 2 leaves at a time. A new one would grow and one would die. Once i got the watering right she kept a third leaf and has 2 blooms

This is very normal for the growth of alocasias. Just make sure you fertilize regularly. Might be worth cutting off the flowers if you want to prioritize leaf growth

I’ll be clipping the flowers soon. I wanted to leave them there in a few days to bask in my success lol

Interestingly enough I dont water my alos a lot, and I live in a very dry non humid state where I average about 20-26% humidity a day. I’ve never had any of my new leaves yellow off or even fall off. I let my black velvet dry out almost completely before watering it again. It turned from one singular leaf to putting out 2-3 more leaves and even a flower (which I a SNIPPING OFF😤) in less than 2 months. mine LOVESS the cactus and perlite mix I’ve made, between each watering I do add fertilizer. I noticed that my first leaf which I started with HATED indirect/ filtered direct sun light but I was seeing the most growth with it in this lighting. That leaf NEVER acclimated and just kinda was burning at the tips (I eventually cut it off) while the new leaves enjoyed the sun. Maybe some of this will be helpful I be would also think you may want to repot them and look at their roots, you may need to downsize their pots.
