The first blooms of my hoya Inflata is missing!😭 The blooms are the size of small grapes. The photos from Sunday show a butterfly clip next to the flowers for comparison. There is no evidence it fell off or was eaten on location. The culprit took it and ran. I’m sure it was a squirrel!😡 One flower opened yesterday morning. I assumed most of them would open overnight. The flowers and stems were all gone before 7 am. Hopefully, it blooms again next year.

So sorry for your loss! 😭 I guess the beautiful thing about nature is you probably made a squirrel really really happy by taking good care of your hoya. Maybe better luck next year 🥺

Thank you. I’m happy to see it bloom once. It may be under a grow light next season.

Nnooooo the squirrels here are the worst. And last year she had 5 babies!! They demolished all the plants on my stoop. !

I understand they are hungry here. The hurricane plus several early tropical storms repeatedly destroyed flower buds, baby pine cones, palm nuts and young acorns. Plus, the drought is killing vegetation and the bugs they feed on. I would leave them bird seeds to get them to leave my plants alone. But, seeds attract rats. Rats attract coyotes and random bob cats. I don’t want my back yard to become a food court. 😄
