My lovely ficus, and long time good friend, has been dropping a few tiny leaves recently. I just picked up one that looked like this with tiny white spots in the back of the leaf. Can anybody identify what this is? TIA. 🤗💚🪴

Have you checked for pests?
1 me gustaShe’s had an ongoing problem with scale and I’ve treated her for years with neem, but finally switched to a pesticide from Bonide called “systemic house plant insect control for containerized plants”. Apparently that’s not working well because she’s having more problems with scale so perhaps I don’t have the correct dosage since she’s in a much larger pot now. I did find some webbing which I’ve included a picture of to show you. Does any of this makes sense to you? TIA 🤗💚🪴

1 me gustaI’d say try I bigger sose
1 me gustaDose*😂
1 me gustaCan you see the webbing? 🤗💚🪴
0 Me gustaI can see a few threads of what might be webbing. But the leaf photos you posted look like scale to me.
1 me gustaYou’re right, she does have scale and has had it for a long time. It’s come back with a vengeance lately since I think the last dose of Bonide was too small as I planted her into a larger pot and I think misjudged the correctly dosage. Is the webbing I’m seeing a part of scale? TIA. 🤗💚🪴
1 me gustaThe webbing could be from spider mites but could also just be that a normal house spider was in there at some point. Is the webbing wide spread?
2 Me gustaYou’re not gonna believe this… Two months ago, my dear housekeeper (I’m a bit handicapped), apparently dusted my ficus with one of those Swiffer dusters. Later, I just happened to find this white fibrous stuff all over the stems of my ficus. I spent a great deal of time picking that sticky filament off of my poor plant. The long and the short of it is, that webbing I took a picture of, may be a few strands of that polyester type filament from the duster. I feel so stupid right now… all of this hullabaloo for a few strands of what may be polyester thread😂! You are very right about my ficus having scale; that’s been a real pain in the tutu to deal with since it never really goes away, and I can only control it! I think I’ll do as suggested and that’s up the amount of Bonide that I have given her in the past. Since I gave her that treatment about three weeks ago, do you think that redoing the entire treatment again so soon will be problematic for my ficus? The last dose was supposed to last for eight weeks, so I’m not sure what to do… TIA for any comments. Have a great rest of the day! 🤗💚🪴
