Need help with my calathea orbifolia. Got it at Costco about 2 weeks ago. Noticed that leaves are starting to get dark brown spots on them. Usually water the plant once a week. Not sure if I should repot since it’s so crowded under.

Don’t rely on a schedule for watering. The plant should be watered when it needs to be watered. And that will vary depending on the season. As for the brown spots, best guess is it doesn’t like your tap water. Calatheas need distilled water. Not bottled spring water either. It’s not the same as distilled water.

Do you think I need to repot considering how crowded it is in the bottom

I think the pot size is fine. Just an FYI I bought one a couple months ago and placed it in semi hydro. It is thriving. I’m experimenting with changing over a few plants to semi hydro. Your plant looks very healthy. It’s just the brown spots that are a problem.

Calatheas are thirsty little beauties. Definitely check the soil and water when it tells you it’s thirsty not when the app says
