Hi! My peacock plant is full of holes and her soil isn’t drying out anymore. I bought her as one of my first ever house plants about a year ago from Home Depot. She had holes in a few leaves but all other leaves since then have been fine. I recently went premium with Planta and it told me I should be wiping down her leaves. Since doing that about two weeks ago, suddenly most of her leaves have holes. I THINK what might be happening is Leaf Spots, and I spread it when I wiped her down? There are no signs of slugs, snails, or any other critters. It’s just the brown spots and holes. I picked up some physan 20 after doing some research and plan to treat her leaves with a diluted solution according to the package instructions. I think she’s also in a pot that is too big with soil that retains too much water and not getting enough light?? To avoid a resurgence of the Leaf Spots, I was thinking I’d repot her into a smaller pot, check her root health, and give her a more aerated soil mixture I’ve been using with other plants. Also, I bought a grow light to dedicate to her that should be here in a few days. Am I on the right track? Is this too much for the poor gal? All help is appreciated!

Wow. She’s a beauty! It seems that whatever lighting situation you have is working so I would not change that as it has been my experience that these plants do not like direct light. They are also sensitive to chemicals in water. Some use distilled for this variety but I have used treated tap water and that has been fine for mine. Otherwise, if there are no pests, it has to be a humidity issue or a fungal issue. I really hope you get it figured out. She’s gorgeous!

It does sound like a fungal problem and you seem to be on the right track.

Your plant is stunning despite the holes in the leaves that have appeared, so IMO your growing conditions are favorable for the plant. Physan20 has worked for me with bacterial/fungus issues. I don’t wipe down my calatheas; I prefer to gently spray them with a hose to clean the leaves. Consider cutting off the infected leaves to prevent further infection 😫
