So I am brand new to being a plant mum. I was recommended a Monstera at the store - but he’s developed 2 little crispy tipped leaves. Any ideas on how to cure this?

Monstera’s are a great starter plant, and yours looks quite healthy. I read brown tips can be an indicator of low humidity, easily fixed with misting once a week. Best of luck.

Yah low humidity but be careful with misting as it increases chance of a fungal infection, the bigger water drops can act as a magnifying glass and burn the leaves and also misting doesn’t really increase ambient humidity much, best to use a humidifier but generally I think it’ll be fine. I would move it away from the window too as they don’t like direct sunlight but bright indirect sunlight, meaning not directly in sight of the sun.

I popped him by the window thinking it would cheer him up 😄 He’s usually about 6fr from the window on his little stand. I’ll try a humidifier- thank you 🙏🏻

Crispy tips = more humidity. You could mist but I agree it doesn’t do much and can sometimes harm. I recommend a pebble tray underneath or a humidifier

Oooh not read about a pebble tray yet. Will definitely look into this. Thank you!

Pebble trays help. Misting does nothing for humidity and only introduces fungal issues. IMO that’s a healthy looking plant

A humidifier is the best tool to increase humidity.

I use pebble trays/humidity trays for my plants it’s usually about 50-60% humidity in their area. This could also just be the adjustment period when you move a plant if it’s still new. Even within your own home they have to adjust to a new spot sometimes. It will be okay I had a small leaf turn completely yellow along with a little browning on the tips when I brought mine home, it’s doing fantastic now.

Yeah I’ve only had him since Wednesday so he’s still pretty new to the environment. Will definitely be looking into pebble trays. Thank you 🙏🏻

Don’t worry tbh. Anytime you bring a new plant home it has to adjust. Give it time it’ll fix itself. Always remember the plant is used to the climate of where you bought it from, and when you bring it home it might not be the same (temp, humidity, etc) so give it time to adjust to your house climate or wherever you have it. Hope it helps!
