I’ve never had an Alocasia before but hubby gave me one for Mother’s day. The soil seemed super wet when he gave it to me and so I thought I would let it dry out a bit before watering. It NEVER dried out. Instead the plant just fell over when I went to check on it I discovered it had root rot. I cleaned it up and put it in a prop jar but I have no idea what kind of care it needs or if it is salvageable as this is my first time dealing with this kind of plant. Any suggestions or thought on care are much appreciated!

    I'd personally just treat with the 1:3 peroxide and repot it in chunky soil. Because the petiole cone out so close to the corm, if you put it in water like this, and the water is covering the petiole bases, they can rot
