Looking for advice. I rescued a spider plant from my office kitchen as it looked super sad (see pic in the white/grey pot). I brought it home and repotted (see pic in green pot). I used all new soil that I mixed myself but when I took it out of the grey pot to place in the green pot it had no roots at all. I haven’t watered since putting it in the new pot as I had just watered it at work the same day I brought it home. Should I put her in a smaller pot given she has no roots?? Help.

In my opinion, I think the green pot looks like a good size for the plant. Not too big and room for new root growth. Spider plants like to be a bit rootbound, so if you notice the plant is not doing well then you can try sizing down. But in my experience as long as there are no other issues with light, drainage/watering, pests, etc. I think he should do fine in that pot!

Oh, one more thing! Just be careful with some of those leaves with their base under the soil, if they stay wet under the dirt they can rot, but new growth will continue to push out the center. ☺️

I can’t keep my spider plants alive in just dirt, when they have no roots. I have to propagate in water unit they have roots, then I plant in dirt.

There has to be some roots or the plant would not get to that size unless it was still attached to the mother plant when you rescued it? You can add rooting hormone powder to encourage root growth. You can add SuperThrive plant vitamins when watering. You can keep it in soil. Definitely water and fertilize with 50 percent diluted liquid fertilizer. Give it at least 8 hours of bright indirect light.

I would put it back into the water to let the roots regrow and then plant it back again x
