What should I do for this bird of paradise Got it yesterday and some of the leaves are struggling, stiff, curled up, and losing their greenness. Is the bark chippy soil it’s in alright or do I need a different one? I was recommend fox farms ocean forest soil but I can’t afford it. Should I get fertilizer? If so what kind and again preferably an inexpensive kind. Is this pot good enough size wise and not gonna cause root rot?

So I would cut the lower leaves and that bad one off at the base. The leaves curl when it’s thirsty, not enough humidity and or if it wasn’t acclimated to direct sunlight. I use a chunky mix soil for mine and I fertilize it monthly. It’s ginormous!!! If you continue to have issues after addressing those you might want to repot. Could be root bound.

I make my own soil mix and I use super thrive with every watering and you can use any balanced fertilizer that has equal parts nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (1:1:1)
