My ring of fire is now spotted. It's under a grow light for 12 hours per day, in a chunky soil mix and with a lot of other plants. Is this a fungus? Copper leaf spot?

Not sure if it's correct but Google says: The small brown spots on your Philodendron 'Ring of Fire' are likely caused by a common occurrence in this plant called extrafloral nectaries (EFNs). These spots are not a sign of disease or pests and are generally considered normal for this variety. What are extrafloral nectaries? These are nectar-producing glands found on the plant's leaves and stems, outside of the flowers. They produce a sugary substance to attract beneficial insects like ants, which in turn protect the plant from pests. Why do they look like brown spots? The sugary liquid from the EFNs can dry up and leave behind a sticky residue or small brown dots on the leaves. What to do? These spots are not harmful to the plant, so no specific action is required. If you find the appearance undesirable, you can gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to clean off any residue
いいね 1件Thank you so much. I've been doing some investigative work...checking them out at nurseries. I've seen these spots on the leaves at a big box stores and two local nurseries. Your comment puts my mind at ease.
