Looking for advice on what you all would do in this situation. This Alocasia belongs to my mom. She is pet sitting for a few weeks and gave me her plants that are toxic and ones she didn’t want the dog to chew on. This is one of the plants she has me looking after and when I first got it, it had 2 leaves. One of them looked exactly like this one. I didn’t do anything to the plant because my mom already specified that they all had been watered before I came to pick them up. Fast forward, that yellowing leaf flopped over and died after the first 3 days I had it. I let my mom know and I chopped it off. 1 leaf is left and now after having it for about 2 weeks, the last leaf is looking like it’s heading towards the same impending doom as the last one 🫩 what should I be doing? What would you all do in this scenario? When I told my mom about the last leaf, she told me that she think it could have been overwatered and that’s why I haven’t watered it at all since I’ve gotten the plant. Now I’m not so sure if that was the right thing to do ? Send help because I’ll feel bad if I return her plant completely bald 🤦🏻‍♀️

Alocasias are drama queens. She may have over watered cuz she would be gine and it had wet feet. It could simply be a defiant protest to the move and change of enviroment. Was it exposed to cold on the trip over. I have one with only one leaf. I call her Dida Von Tease 😏. She did the same thing when i repotted her last year. Most likely a change in the humidity and few other things pissed it off and it dropped leaves to conserve energy. Its not dead tho as long as there is no root rot, its just dormant. Your mom can bring it back. It will just take time.
