Does anybody have any advice for repotting House plants for the purpose of insect control . I tried neem oil, and fly traps first but it did not help. I am going to sprinkle in this house plant and set control too when I repot

It works tremendously well. I use it all the time. Sprinkle in your soil then water your plant to activate the granules.. good stuff
2 Me gustaYou should fix the cause of the fungus gnats living on the pots. Continuously wet soil harbors the gnats. They lay eggs on the damp topsoil and their larvae live in the soil. Soil that doesn’t dry out could be overwatered or has too much soil for the amount of roots. The roots should be able to use up all the water in the soil. I recommend reducing the pot size to a pot just big enough to hold the roots with an inch of clearance around the roots. Disinfect the roots with hydrogen peroxide before adding new soil. Use Mosquito Bits granules or Microbe Lift BMC liquid in water with every watering. Both products use beneficial bacteria to kill the fungus gnat larvae in the soil ending the life cycle. The Bomide Systemic granules are toxic. Read the label warnings before using. 🪴🍀
1 me gustaYeah… stop getting miracle grow potting mix… you’re basically paying for gnats 😭 I learned the hard way I literally had an infestation. So I decided to make my own potting mix and bought a brick of coco coir and soaked it in water for it to expand and then I add perlite and orchid bark in it for aeration and drainage! my plants have been loving the chunky mix and I’ve been gnat free for months. (With the addition of bottom watering cause gnats live moist top soil) I also moved all my plants into plastic pots so I can see when they’re dry, it prevents me from over watering.
5 Me gustaAgreed. Any other potting mix that isn’t Miracle Grow brand is a lot less likely of being too peat heavy and gnat infested. I personally swear by Espoma’s potting mixes if you’re looking for a cheap but higher quality alternative
3 Me gustaI use this regularly. Gets replaced every two months. Currently I’m replacing it in all my 140 plus plants. Follow the directions, don’t just sprinkle some on the soil. An FYI, it does not kill spider mites. That takes a special spray just for spiders. Bonide kills fungus gnat larva but not the adult. So you still need to deal with them with sticky traps until they die off. And if you have a lot a of plants, you can buy the larger size. It is way cheaper. I think it says for outdoor plants but I checked and formula is exactly the same as the one advertised for houseplants. I’m on my second large bottle for this replacement round.
0 Me gustaAnd then I add a note in Planta for each plant that I add it too along with the date. If you “pin” the note, it shows near top of the individual plants page. Easy to see.
