I just repotted these two plants a few days ago and the pH is low. Around 3 to 3.5 depending on the soil depth. I used indoor plant soil I bought from my local nursery. All my other plants are showing normal pH levels so I don’t think it’s my water. Is this normal when repotting plants? Will the pH rise on its own over time?

    What soil did you use?

Whether it rises will honestly depend on why it went down

I used the Uni Gro organic houseplant potting mix

Well that's really weird since that company ph balances. I would say your meter is incorrect. Most ph probes need to be cleaned in a solution and regularly calibrated and tested. I'm wondering if yours is just reading incorrectly now

Do you use this same probe for all your plants and find it works well? Soil nerds say these direct soil pH measurements are notoriously unreliable. I'm wondering if the reading is accurate. If you've had good luck with it so far, maybe do a second test-- universities sometimes have labs that will test soil and potting media pretty cheaply. If you tested right before or right after watering, try testing in the opposite condition as well. They look lovely so if there is an issue they aren't showing it yet!

Ya I use this one on all my plants. They all have between 5.5 and 6.5 ph and these ones did too until I repotted them. So it seems accurate enough, definitely enough to show when a plant is way high or way low on pH. I did some research found that this can happen with new soil because of the high level of nutrients and the pH will level out over time with watering and the plant using up nutrients. I don’t know if thats true or not but I’m just gunna stay on the watering schedule and keep testing I guess.

A solution like this. I've never used a soil meter because they're notoriously unreliable. But this is the solution for an actual ph probe i have. To test the PH i water with neutral water and test the runoff.

Ok ya I have some strips. I’ll check the run off next time I water. But ya my meter is reading the right ph level in all my other plants so I think it’s accurate enough to tell me if it’s low or high.

The company you used specifically ph balances the soil. Which is what I'm finding so off. There are certain additives like peat or fertilizers that can change ph, but they balance it after mixing. Unless it's like some crazy off batch they mixed
