Hi I just found a trip on my monstera :( It’s currently at my office so any hard core treatment strategies would be nearly impossible… I’d only be able to spray the plant with pesticides basically…unless I were to try to take it back home where more can be done. Any recommendations? (I’d prefer not to chunk him but this will be my first time dealing with them 😭)

I had a really bad thrips infestation on one of my plants and the only thing that worked was using this powder substance called diatomaceous earth. I used a food safe version. Only issue is it’s a white powder so it does get pretty messy but if you find the sprays don’t help I highly recommend it. The powder basically kills any tiny pests instantly. Just don’t inhale PLEASE but other than that it’s completely safe to use. I put it all over the leaves and the top of the soil

I'd use some systemic granules in the soil, water them in. It will kill the thrips as they feed on the plant, and eventually all cycles of them will die. It just takes some time

All great suggestions, also I’d recommend Bonide Captain Jacks DeadBug Brew, it contains Spinosad, which is a bacteria which loves killing pests!

Insecticide soap 1x a week and systemic granules in the soil every 8 weeks.! Wipe the leaves as often as possible. Sticky traps for any adults
