Hi everyone, I’m really new to alocasia’s and i know they’re harder plants to care for. I have mine in a green house with high humidity and a grow light. Humidity stays around 75-85%. I’m not sure what is going on with her leaves. Im not sure if it’s fungal or she’s unhappy with lighting and humidity or if it’s just an older leaf dying off since she’s pushing out a new one.

is this a silver dragon? this looks like mine. i've had my silver dragon for three years now, and she's thrived in the ambient humidity in my bedroom (~45-50% humidity, i'm in FL) and my west facing window. she's HUGE, and has given me plenty of babies. silver dragons are not nearly as picky as the rest of the alocasias, she doesn't need so much pampering. i'd try neglecting her a little more and see what happens 😂😂 in the meantime, treat for fungal just in case, but that looks like an overwatering spot to me.

Yes she’s a silver dragon lol. I’m in New York so there’s not much humidity during the winter months. I’ll try to neglect her for a little to see if it works. Should i wait for her to dry out completely before watering?

yes! let her dry out quite a bit before you water. with tropicals as big as this one looks, you want to go with a longer dry period and bigger waterings. that's what i've been doing with mine, she's about ~18 inches tall now, leaves a little bigger than my whole hand.

It honestly looks like an older leaf on its way out, especially since it's pushing a new one. Alocasias do that pretty often. I don't think it looks fungal. Your humidity actually sounds perfect. I'd just keep an eye on it for now.

I have an Alocasias Zebra. They only have about 5/6 leaves at one time unless it divides itself. So when a new leaf comes, an old one will turn yellow, stem will go soft and then droop over. If anything, I let mine get very dry. It stands next to my TV and has always been very happy! 😂😂😂
