Hi! I am dealing with an unpleasant problem with fungus gnats spreading through my plants, and throughout my house. They have become quite a nuisance, constantly reproducing and spreading everywhere. I’m hoping to completely eliminate them for good. I would greatly appreciate any tips on the most effective methods to get rid of fungus gnats permanently. Thank you! 🌿💚

The little stickers you can put in your plants helped mine. Also added some sand to the top of one plant and they went away. Don’t leave your soil damp or wet

I had an awful fungus gnat problem a while ago when my plant collection exploded 😅 I now how it completely managed with a combo of: 1. Yellow sticky traps in each plant (I use 1/2, 1, or more depending on pot size but I make sure every pot has something) 2. Zevo trap (I also have an off-brand one from Amazon that works well too) 3. “Fungus Gnat Death Drops” from Happy Happy Houseplant…I use this every time I water my plants and refuse to water them without it. I’ve tried mosquito dunks/pellets but they’re too much of a pain, the product I mentioned is wayyyy easier (it’s a liquid you just add to your watering can) I definitely recommend using all these products in combo; helps to tackle all (or at least most) life stages of the gnats. I also recommend continuing using all of these even once the infestation improves (which can take weeks/months unfortunately) to prevent it from happening again. There will always be a stray or two, which comes with the indoor plant territory, but can totally be managed!

Yes agreed. Can also use nematodes in the watering that specifically eat fungus gnat larvae. But you do need the traps too to stop reproduction. Ladybird Plant Care sells nematodes and traps together in a kit - if you’re in the UK. Happy Houseplants Fungus Gnat Death Drop uses a bacteria which works differently but is delivered the same (via watering the plant) and also excellent 👌

I have problems with gnats too. They are the worst. They have killed my succulents in the past and almost killed my thanksgiving cactus.

A 1/2 mosquito dunk that I pop into my 1 gallon watering can. I fill the can and let it sit overnight before watering my plants. I replace the 1/2 of a dunk once it’s fully broken up. Typically I only have to use them during the spring/summer. But I’ve found this method works really well and I now have no gnats (knock on wood ✊ 🪵)
