I’m taking over care for this unfortunate plant. The app says that it’s Selenicereus validus. Other than tender love and care, what else can I do to bring it back from the brink? What do you think went wrong in the first place? I’m putting it under a grow light starting today to give it a fighting chance. Is it salvageable? Thanks!

Does this pot drain? Sometimes if the pot doesn't drain, or drains very slowly, they can be kept too wet. If they hang over the edge, it another thing to check Is if its creating a humid space between soil and edge. And then also have a low to no peat moss gritty mix

Thank you. I’ll check on the drainage of the pot because I’m not sure. That would make sense. Is this what happens due to overwatering / sitting in water?

It can, yes. Unfortunately symptoms can be caused by multiple reasons usually. Like under or over watering .

Also, if it hasn’t been repotted in a while…you might want to consider the next pot size up

Thank you for the suggestion. I’m going to repot it and the other two succulents I’m trying to save. That way I can ensure it’s done right — if I watch YouTube. 🤭

Use a soil mix for succulents/palms. They sell at Lowes, etc. Also…invest in a hydrometer. They are pretty cheap. Test your soil before you water. For succulents it should be on the very dry end of the meter.
