My palm is slowly turning brown and the leaves are drying up. I water once a week and have an irrigation system using a terracotta filter and a wine bottle. Can anyone tell me what could be killing my palm?

Could be that palms don’t like tap water
1 j'aimeReally? I didn’t know that was a thing.
0 J'aimeYeahhh, some can tend to be finicky and get burned from overly hard tap water, I don’t think it’s root related since the leaves would be rotting instead of crisping up
0 J'aimeMine also doesn’t like tap water
1 j'aimeThanks for that insight. I’ll try switching up the water.
0 J'aimeThanks for sharing! Do you water it with bottled water?
0 J'aimePossibly overwatering.
1 j'aimeLooks like overwatering. I would remove the water bottle regardless of the type of water used. Palms don’t need constant watering. The soil should be allowed to dry down somewhat before watering again.
3 J'aimeTrue, those drip watering hacks are definitely a gimmick
2 J'aimeI’m only watering my palm once every 13 days at the moment - so it might be overwatering
1 j'aimeThat’s good to know. But why would the palm dry up from overwatering?
0 J'aimeAccording to google - 😅 Overwatering can also cause the leaves to turn brown, as it leads to root rot, which deprives the plant of necessary nutrients
0 J'aimeThink about it as the plant killing off leaves to take their moisture/nutrients because the roots can no longer do that job… it’s a survival mechanism!
1 j'aimeIf you're worried about using tap water I recommend filling a vessel/watering container and letting it sit out for 24 hours before pouring into plant. That gives the chemicals in the tap water such as chlorine time to evaporate! Made a difference with my plants so may be worth a shot!
1 j'aimedo the leaves look striped at all? just got through a spider mite infestation with my palm and one symptom was drying / browning leaves as well
0 J'aimeHow do you mean striped? They have natural striations- 3 dimensional fine stripes on leaves.
0 J'aimelike discoloration stripes!
