Noticed these black spots and marks all over my white bird of paradise leaves one of the leaves the forms a line of dots down the center of the front and back of the leaf is this fungal, scale, or over-watering? I chopped it already , I'm going to throw it under a grow light this winter, keep fertilizing, and keep it growing this winter hopefully it doesn't take forever to grow back 🥴

    It’s hard to see. But, it doesn’t look like scale. You can wipe or scrape off scale insects. It could be fungal or edema from overwatering. Check the roots for rot. Edema can happen without root rot if the roots send too much water to a cell. The cells can burst leaving colored or dry spots. 🪴🍀

      Yeah that's probably what it was because it was outside and it does rain quite a bit 😩🪴🌱🙏

      Yours doesn’t look too bad. I was terrified when hoyas I placed in direct sun started to look bloody as shown in the photos. The first is a Hoya Obovata. The second is a Hoya Verticillata. Both got too much rain.
