I had this problem when over-fertilizing a tropical fern, and it killed off a leaf. I simply reported with entirely new soil and changed my fertilizing and watering schedules to be a bit less frequent.

A little white fuzzy mold won’t hurt anything. It just means your soil is staying wet a little too long. I usually spray the top of the soil with hydrogen peroxide to kill off the mold. Just make sure your plant has better airflow around it & you are giving it enough time to dry out more. If it keeps happening for an extended period of time, you may need to repot with a chunkier soil mix.

Thank you cookie. Are you talking straight, hydrogen peroxide or a dilution?

I put regular hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle 😊
