Big Apple Plants

This is a progression of how sad my spider plant got. The first two pictures are from today; my plant is looking very sad and droopy compared to older pictures where it was very happy and perky. It also has yellowing/browning tips. Could I have overwatered in the last watering? I usually am pretty good about waiting until the soil is completely dry, I don’t know what went wrong here. I would appreciate some advice on what I can do with the plant. Should I repot?

your spider plant doesn’t look particularly unhealthy. it may have been watered too soon though. i wait for the leaves to droop a bit before watering my spiders, and this is usually when the soil’s been totally dry a day or two

It looks overwatered in all the pictures to some degree. I am basing that on the leaf tips that fade yellow and look pliable. Under watered spider plants have a very thin line that yellows before quickly turning crispy brown at the leaf tips. There are a few reasons for over watering: 1) The soil may be taking too long to dry. It could need more additives like perlite to help drainage. My spider plants are in a very light mix. You can easily tell just by lifting that all the water has dried out. 2) Too much soil compared to the amount of roots and plant size. The plant can’t use all the water in the soil. I would recommend repotting to a pot half that size or at least shorter after checking the root system. This would eliminate the excess soil and moisture. The soil will dry out faster.
