Does anybody know if these dried out patches will stop growth? I personally assume so because how is the water traveling from the roots through this part of the stem to get the end? It is still growing and looks great past this part. I have some of this silver inch propagating in water and they have the same thinning stem patch but have roots attached and new growth at the end. I’m wondering if I should keep trying to cut past it and prop it again or if it will continue to grow like this?

You may want to, just to ensure success. I would dump that water and sanitize the glass too.

What I’ve learned about this plant is that they do not age well, and do seem to wither in upper-middle section first (vs the ends) I am constantly removing withering vines and trimming the healthy ends to propagate. This photo it’s my “Silvia” during the summer months when most of her growth occurs. She’s a whole different plant in winter 😅

I completely agree with cleaning and disinfecting the glass of water. I recommend using a larger bottle or glass jar for those long stemmed props. Remove all leaves below the water line. Remove debris in the water. The roots died and contaminated the water. The bacteria is slowly killing off the cuttings.
