Can anyone help me figure out what’s happening to my spider plant? Some of the leaves keep turning brown so I keep pulling them off.

Could be lack of drainage causing root rot. Or it could be that the leaves are old and dying off though I haven’t seen my spider plant do that, mine is roughly the same size but only a year old. It isn’t uncommon for the tips to turn brown though.
2 LikesThank you, there are a lot of drainage holes so maybe it’s the soil not letting it drain well? It’s in regular potting soil
0 LikesAhh yes that could also contribute. Having a good amount of perlite and orchid bark in the soil can help with that as well. Perlite is an affordable option so even just having that in your soil mix will help. Also I would def look into the pot size versus root ball, if the pot is more than 2 inches bigger than the root ball in any direction then the pot is too big and will stay wet for too long causing it to rot
2 LikesI’ll definitely check this, thank you!
0 LikesCheck the soil is completely dry before watering. Do not follow a strict schedule.

1 LikeThis is one of my plants that I like keeping in a clear nursery pot, and then I’ll drop that into a decorative pot. This way, it’s easy for me to pop it out and see when the soil is completely dry to the bottom. They have bulbous water storing thingies in their roots (I’m obviously no expert haha) so they can last a while without watering, especially inside and especially in that type of pot. I have 2 inside and 3 outside, and I haven’t watered the inside ones in well over a month. She’s getting some nice chunky roots and lots of babies 😍
2 LikesThank you! Definitely think I need to adjust the watering schedule
