Too much water, not enough light. Unfortunately they cannot recover from this

1 likeNext time, Cacti also like to be kept in smaller pots, just enough for the root ball. It helps not to overwater when there’s not as much soil holding moisture. Picky plants!

Small pots and really high quality soil designed specifically for cactus.

My favorite cactus soil is almost like sand. Spike & Bloom Desert Blend. (I’m such a big fan of theirs My Planta profile photo is their fun cactus on the bag). It is a very expensive soil when against its competitors - however “The cactus soils on the market today are mostly topsoil and peat moss with a cactus label thrown on the bag. These types of “potting mixes” are not only bad cactus soils, they actively harm your cacti with root rot and toxins”
