Black aphids - use an insecticide
0 likesDefinitely, black aphids. You can knock off most of them with a spray from a garden hose. Insecticidal soap can suffocate the rest. Be careful using insecticides on plants you plan to eat. Read all the instructions before applying to determine if the insecticide can be applied to edible plants.

0 likesNeemMax is organic and seems to work on all insects but I’m no expert. It was recommended to me on this site and I consider it a Magic Potion. It eradicated a horrible Japanese beetle infestation on my basil. 🌿 The container says it’s edible but I wash my herbs. 🤞
2 likesI don’t buy any specific ones. I haven’t grown edibles in a few years. So, I don’t know about the current ones on the market. Most come with more than just a soap additive to give an additional pesticide ingredient to kill off the pests. That’s why I caution you to read the labels to insure you can spray it on plants you plan to eat. I mix Dawn dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle. It’s sufficient to suffocate the pests on my potted plants. Then, reapply when the next wave comes from eggs you missed. 🍀🪴
