My fern is having issues and I can't figure out why. I've had him for over a year now, under a grow light. He bottom feeds regularly. But for about 3 months now the leaves closest to the roots started getting dry and turning brown. The ends of the shoots are still big leaves with bright green though. Any help or advice would be amazing!!

If the pot does not have a drain hole I will blame that but if it does have a drain hole perhaps it needs more humidity.

It's planted inside a nursery pot with drain holes that just sits inside this ceramic pot. That's how I bottom feed it. I'm wondering if maybe it's too small and getting root bound?

I’d say it may need repotted and higher humidity. Maybe add in some misting

yes to higher humidity however misting is great for raising humidity for 5 minutes? might even be less in drier regions so unless you’re planning on making spraying your plants a full time job, you might wanna invest in a humidifier to not only raise the humidity but most importantly keep it humid all day long
