Successful fern parents - I want a lush bushy fern and this one is looking leggy, scraggly, and unwelll. I’ve repotted her a couple times due to water logging and poor drainage, but she is still looking rough. She’s in a mix of potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite. I covered the top soil with some spaghnum moss to help retain some moisture. Do I just leave her alone until the soil is completely dry before watering again?

I have a Tiger Boston Fern, it gets watered every 6-7 days, and misted daily. I dont even bother to check the soil, these are wet forest species. pretty much is never dry. He's in a well draining chunky soil, plastic pot. I'd make sure the moss wasn't around the base of the fronds, just so it doesn't incite rotting. But it doesn't look like it is at all. He came a bit rough, and then started to get browning. So I popped him in the greenhouse and on the misting schedule. He's doing great now. This is him wilted and crispy when he first arrived
