HELP!! The fungus gnats are overtaking me!! Hello! I have been dealing with fungus gnats for at least 6 months now, and I cannot get rid of them!! I’ve made sure my plants drain well, tried mosquito bits, water with peroxide, covered in sand, covered in cinnamon, repotted after rinsing the roots with water and hydrogen peroxide, moved everything to plastic pots, sticky traps, added orchid bark and perlite to my soil, everything I can think of!! Any advice?? What has worked for you? I love my plants so much, but I’m so sick of these dumb bugs!! They are the most attracted to my monstera and my Swiss cheese plant for some reason. Photo for attention

They are very annoying. For me it was a combination of watering with mosquito bit "tea"/water, bonide systemic granules in the soil, and DE (diametous earth) sprinkled on top of the dry soil.

Bottom watering and neem oil works for me.

Definitely bottom watering should help. Can you tell us a bit more about how you water?

I dealt with them for a few months too. Mosquito bits tea worked for me. Use it every time you water until they are gone. In combination with the yellow traps and Zevo to gauge the level of infestation. I also put about 3/4 of my plants outside once it was warm enough so I was dealing with less plants inside that I had to battle.

I used systemic granules in all new plants. I watered everything with Arber's fungicide and insecticide for a while. Switched to mosquito bit tea and haven't had much of an issue.

This is very "old school" but it works! Get some old fruit, banana, old strawberries etc.. put that in plastic cups. Wrap some plastic wrap on top and hold it with a rubber band. Poke small holes with a toothpick in the plastic wrap and set by your plants. When it is full of gnats put something on top of the cup so the gnats can't get out then make a mad dash to the dumpster or outside garbage. Repeat until they are all gone. Bottom water while you still have the gnats. I swear it works!!

I don’t even know what systemic granules or mosquito bit tea is! But this may be something I can handle. Thanks!

Mosquito bits are highly effective if you dilute them in water rather than direct application to the soil, bottom water where possible make sure all plants are watered with mosquito bit “tea” and you will notice a difference. Speed up the process using sticky traps to capture the adults

I use Happy Happy Houseplant's death drops. It finally got my gnat infestation under control.

I have a Zevo blue light sticky trap plugged in by my plants that has been working great. The one specifically for plants :)

Maybe try branching out into carnivorous plants. Pinguiculas are beginner friendly, and most carnivorous plants have natural ways of attracting insects
