I have caterpillars eating my outdoor plants is there anything I can do to stop them?

Given that there is a serious lack of butterflies im inclined to say not to kill them as google would suggest. I would pick them off and relocate to a nature preserve near you, or if curious, you can watch them grow in those net habitats. Definitely research what kind they are first tho.

I pick them off with a rubber tipped long tweezer. Then, move them to the farthest corner of my yard where the weeds grow.

Good idea for me to start a little wildflower box in my yard! Thank you!!!
