I’m a new plant owner. I just got my cactus about a month ago, and I only water it once a week. Anyone who knows anything about cacti know if I’m doing anything wrong?

Once a week watering is a lot.

Once a week is likely way to much

What a cute little dude! As others have said I would not water until the soil is dry all the way down to the bottom. I use a toothpick or wooden chopstick to check. I would also suggest down potting into a slightly smaller pot (one only 1”-2” bigger than the roots) ideally terracotta. With some very gritty cactus & succulent specific mix. Cactus tend to have delicate root systems so they can have issues using up all the water in a more water retentive mix. 🌵 🌵 🌵

I add all my plants to planta and make sure to add window distance then just follow the watering schedule they give you! It hasn’t failed me yet!!🙂
