Please I need a LOT of help with this plant: This plant has been doing really shitty for the past week. I thought it was just because it was throwing a tantrum for water (pot was super dry and light) but I realized that there’s tons of bugs living on it. I’ve been dealing with a spider mite infestation on my elephants ear but it’s definitely not that. The little black insects look almost like worms and move around like them as well. There’s also a weird amount of black spots around the edges of leaves and maybe that’s related??? I’m going to chop a good chunk of leaves not if I can’t diagnose so please help. In the meantime, I’ve been spraying with a mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water to not kill the leaves but to kill whatever’s residing on here

It’s likely the combination of the alcohol spray and the pests that are killing off your plants. Alcohol shouldn’t be used like a spray insecticide. It’s toxic to plants and can quickly kill them especially when it flows into the soil. The most I do with alcohol is to dab a bit directly onto a mealybug with a cotton swab and wipe immediately to decrease the amount of time alcohol touches my plant. Use neem oil or Castile soap, an olive oil based soap. They are milder on plants. 🪴🍀

Yep the alcohol is definitely burning the plant. Stay consistent on watering. As it recovers, remove definitely dead leaves and then only the worst leaf each time the plant grows in a new healthy one. As for the pests, try to get a photo. For ideal image clarity on small critters, zoom to about 6x, aim at something close up and tap the screen until it auto-focuses well. lock the focal length (on android, you tap the screen and it brings up a circle with a lock icon. Tap the lock and it should turn yellow), and then physically move the phone to get the wormy creature in focus. It's better to get an in-focus picture that's further out than a blurry one that's closer. With a decent picture, i can help ID the pest and find you the most effective treatment for it

The little insects look like a possible thrip situation (just from personal experience). They can damage the leaves like that and leave the silvery/white discoloration on the leaves (not to be confused with the natural coloration of the leaves). I also agree with the other comments, the alcohol and water combo alone might be too much for the plant. To make a preventative solution, add water, neem oil, peppermint soap (insecticidal soap) and a couple drops of alcohol (not too much). Spray then wipe the leaves down. Isolate the plant (pests).
