Does anyone know when this spiderette will be able to propagate? It has been growing since last November. Haven’t seen any roots yet. Rest of plant is doing ok, seems very fragile. I water often and have not seen any pests ever on this plant. Leaf tips are always turning crispy and brown. Lighting is good too.

I’m so happy to see another spider plant owner! I have had success with the spiderettes or pups when they become about the size of my palm and quite bushy. Sometimes I put the pup in water to propagate roots before I cut it off of the mother plant. I recently cut small pups off of the mother and they died. The longer you wait, the better. Yours looks too small still. I leave my pups on for several months

Thank you so much! This was very helpful. I will try putting it in water first without cutting it off.

I also noticed that the tips of the leaves turn brown and crunchy. I think it depends on the chemicals in the water you use. I heard spider plants are sensitive to chlorine or some chemical that is often in our tap or drinking water

Not an expert in spider plants, what I did was adjusted the feeding stem from mother plant and pup , so that the pup was in a bit of the soil and gave the pup a drink, was a couple of week ago, pup seems to be getting bigger and the main feeding stem dying off , as think it’s got its own roots now so not using stem for feed. May be the wrong way of doing it but so far seems ok, the other option I suppose would be so moss around the base of pup and keep moist or some way of getting a small amount of water where roots would grow
