My carnivore is looking poorly. I had him close to a north facing window. In addition to move him under a growth light, should I remove the glass dome? I only use distilled water for watering

    Leaves turning black on a Venus flytrap is normal if that’s what you’re worried about. As they age and lose energy the plant will recycle it. It’s more common for it to happen if the trap gets used 2-3 times but it can happen on a trap that never triggers. North facing is a good lighting placement, idk about the globe though as that limits the insects that can access the plant

    Get rid of the dome! It filters some of the sunlight and it’s a recipe for mold and fungus for a bog plant. It also traps heat and might cook the leaves touching the glass. A north window only gets some brief morning sun so the leaves are growing long because it’s lacking direct intense light. If you have a south or west window it’ll be the best spot if you keep it indoors or a grow light or u can put it outside west or south side of the house during growing season and bring it back in when it starts getting cold. It’s recommended that they go through a dormancy period during the cold months.

    Also you can cut off the traps and leaves when it becomes all black down to the base
