HELP HELP HELP HELP!!! My triostar is in desperate need of help and I don’t know what to do. It was living in a homemade pot with minimal and very bad drainage, I just repotted it into a ceramic pot with a drainage hole, about a day ago. I watered it with water that sat out overnight because I read that triostars are sensitive to the chemicals in tap water. (Though the couple months I’ve had it I’d been watering with tap water and it was ok?) How often should I be watering it? How can I help this plant recover? Has this happened to anyone else’s triostar?

    I don’t have a triostar, but it may just be having some shock symptoms from being moved. I would wait a few days and see how it’s doing. If it is the chemicals in the water you could get a water purifier to help.

    What did the roots look like when you repoted? As for watering, keep it moist (not damp). Check the soil before watering. If the top 2" is dry, water. If it's still wet, you're good to skip.

      I honestly didn’t get a really good look at them but I think they had a tinge of orange

      Well if you saw black and mooshy roots you would be in trouble. Sounds like it just needs to recover from the stress of repotting. Don't waste time putting water out over night. That just let's the chlorine evaporate. Other chemicals will still be there. Use a water conditioner. I just use the kind for aquarium fish. I small bottle will last you years.

    They are sensitive and fairly slow-growing plants. I haven’t had mine long, but they do HATE being moved, HATE being repotted, and will throw fits about water and light. If you only just repotted it within the last two weeks, give it *a while* to recover. Since it might not be drinking water as much as usual right now either, gently aerate the soil with a chopstick or skewer to make sure the roots aren’t suffocating. They do like high humidity but that can also keep the soil damp for a long time.

    Apparently they also enjoy being a bit root-bound so that new pot may be its home for like two years

    Leaving tap water out doesn’t usually work. Most municipalities use chlorimine (sp?) which does not evaporate. And many plants are sensitive to lime. That needs to be filtered out.

      Any recommendations for filtering out lime? The only thing I’ve seen that works is getting an RO filter but they are so expensive.

      I’m not sure but would think that a faucet or pitcher filter would do it. I have an RO system so have never needed to go the filter way.
