Does anyone know why this is growing so strangely at the top?

    I’m not familiar with that type of cactus but from my experience I’d say it is a combination of not having enough water and that part also being young and not very mature so it is still growing.

    Thank you. It was in a spot with little light. Moved it to a window, hopefully that will help!!

    Getting narrow is not enough water. Getting more height between each set of spikes is the cactus wanting more light. Yours seems to have both going on. Once you fix it, you'll see improvement with the new growth at the top. It'll stay weird and narrow in the middle. You can either propagate to restart and make it look nicer after you get care right, or let it gradually even out over time (which can take a long time)

    To propagate it would I just cut the strange skinny top off, let it heal then plant?
