Has anyone ever had a plant die or not so well when using cinnamon powder in plant soil? I sprinkled a bit on my plants soil but am now worried when watering her that it’ll do damage once it get down to the roots

try bottom watering if you are concerned. it will be fine regardless

exactly, as long as it’s true cinnamon it will be effective. but most cinnamon sold in american grocery stores is technically cassia, which has a stronger, sweeter flavor and is not so effective against molds and pests.

You used cinnamon?
1 likeYes and neem oil because my squash plants got attacked by white flies and they are dead. I recommend only using it on stronger/ less delicate plant leaves

I feel like there were contributing factors to your squash dying. Most likely not the cinnamon. Sorry that happened.

Even if I used a lot? Haha thanks for clarifying 💕
1 likewell what’s a lot? a whole bottle might have some kind of adverse effect - but if you sprinkled a coating over the top of your soil it’s fine.
1 likeUsing too much was where I went wrong one time. Not because of the watering, but it was all around the base of my pothos and it burned all the stems…..but I used quite a lot. Now I just “dust” the top of my soil and have never had an issue since. As others have said, you can also bottom water to avoid getting the cinnamon wet. And regular grocery store cinnamon, in the right amount, will not hurt your plant and can be effective for molds on the top of the soil.

I don’t believe sprinkling cinnamon powder on the soil will affect your plant unless it is already sick (with continued use). I’ve experimented with cinnamon on many a houseplant in the past and though I’ve never had a plant die from it, I also haven’t found that it improves or has any positive lasting effects on my houseplants so I don’t use it at all.
