Please help! What’s going on with my pothos! Her soil is damp and has good drainage. I don’t see any pests. Should I cut the leaves off that have the spots? Thanks for any advice!

You could chop them off if you’re worried about fungal infections but go right to the roots and clean them all back with hydrogen peroxide and a water spray bottle in the sink until there’s no more black or brown in the root system. Then I’d repot to a pot only 2” wider than the root ball. You can either make your own aroid soil mix/a chunky tropical mix or buy either off Amazon (spending more $$ on better soil is worth it) & I’ve found it works well for them!
1 LikeIt’s not root rot from the photo especially if there are no swampy smells. It doesn’t need repotting either. Repot when you see more roots than soil or you could have an overwatering issue if you add more soil holding water the plant can’t use up fast enough before it rots. Check again in spring or summer. 🪴🍀
0 LikesIt doesn’t look like a root problem. But, you still need to check for root rot shown by smelly mushy roots. Cutting leaves won’t stop fungal or bacterial infection that are at the core of the plant. It looks more like a low humidity issue based on the dry lines, spots and cracks on the leaves. Use a hygrometer to check the humidity levels. I would try to keep humidity above 50% with a humidifier. 🪴🍀
1 LikeThat could be a huge factor since our humidity has been low and they are crispy spots. We’re running 2 humidifiers and got the house to 53% humidity
1 LikeHouse heating can drop the humidity levels. You can only do so much.
0 LikesI have the same issue with all my pothos, I’ve tried sprays, repotting, cutting off spotted leaves and nothing resolved the problem. Now I realized it’s not root rot since my cuttings rooting in water have the same spots. SMH
0 LikesUsually pothos love it here. It’s the first issue I’ve had with one other than my satin pothos… which I am 100% sure hates my guts and has been wilty/curly for MONTHS no matter what I do
1 LikeI might add I live in Florida, plenty of sun and humidity, their inside with indirect light and on the lani with partial sun. Tried it all !!
