Hi all! I posted at the start of this year about my Lucky Bamboo, Groot, and how he had a leaf that had just started to turn brown/yellow. I took everyone's advice and trimmed off the small part and I've been keeping up with taking off any brown spots - they were very rare, but I made sure to trim them. I won't lie, I fell off of consistently watering him, and we moved him up to our bedroom on our desk. I fell into a pretty bad depression shortly after returning from a week long vacation with my boyfriend - it was a great vacation, and I had watered him before leaving - at the beginning of last month, and I didn't really water him at all... I feel horrible about it but I had been glancing occasionally to check levels, he was fine. Today I looked and immediately jumped to action - he had about half water, and a bunch of yellow leaves (picture 1). I gently pulled the leaves I could off, then trimmed off what was left while trying not to cut the main stem. I then decided to go farther and do something I was too scared to before (thanks adrenaline) and I carefully took him out of the bottle - he definitely lost some roots, but I wanted to take out the rocks because I wasn't sure if they were helping, and I think some were dyed (picture 3), I rinsed off the roots and I cleaned the upper rim of the bottle as well as removed the string. I decided to move him to the dining room, as well, as our room is kept in the dark a LOT due to me working nightshifts and he gets very rare sunlight (picture 2) and we have a wax melter on the desk as well. I want to know if anyone has any advice to help him more? I'm worried about that main tall stem because thats where all the yellow leaves were sprouting from. I'm thinking of getting some water fertilizer, so some recommendations would be great.

If you haven't fertilized him in a year, that might be why he's starting to look so yellow. Water doesn't contain all the nutrients and minerals a plant needs, so fertilizing is a must. Personally I use Espoma Organic Indoor liquid fertilizer. I dilute it to about 50% strength and for plants in water, I usually refill their vessel with half fertilized water/half regular water.
