Still pretty new to gardening and I think I might be overwatering my spearmint? These little guys just showed up recently and I have no clue what they are. Any tips to remove them naturally? Note - it was watered yesterday (June 18th) and we’ve had overcast since.

Fungus gnats. They lay eggs on the wet soil. Their larvae live in the soil. They eat decay especially the rotting roots. You can search the post for several examples of infestation and remedies. I use Mosquito Bits mixed in the water I use on all my plants every time I water and on recently purchased isolated plants. Mosquito Bits contains the Bti bacteria that kills the larvae in the soil. Isolate the infected plant. The infestation quickly spreads. 🍀🪴

Let the soil dry out more. They thrive in continuously wet soil. Increase air flow to help dry the soil faster. Use the Mosquito Bits per the directions on the package detailing treatment for the gnats. Essentially, mix the granules in the water. A concentrated liquid version is available from another maker.
