Probably a beetle grub, which can be bad because some eat plant roots, but some species are good because they just eat decaying organic matter, not roots, but there's really no way to tell what kind it is at this stage. It is grub though, so if you're feeling hungry...

Thanks. I removed him from my plant and put him on the ground. When I went back later he had died!

He died? Oh no! We'll he might not be very juicy any more, but you can still sun dry him! I wonder if he'll taste like dried mango?
