My poor Aloe Vera has just drooped over the past couple of weeks and I’m not sure why. It’s about 10ft from a window in a room that gets a good 5 hours of light during the day. Watered about once a month. Had it for about 2 years, and only now has this happened, any ideas? Thanks in advance

Oh no!! I have two theories - 1. (And this is most likely it). It’s probably wayyy too far from a light source - aloe LOVES sun. 2. How often do you water? For how far away it is from the window means it probably needs significantly less water.

Yeah it’s a good 10 ft from the window and isn’t really in direct sunlight. I’ll definitely move it for tomorrow morning. I water once a month, will keep an eye on it and water a bit more for when in sunlight.Thank you very much!

Good to know! Yes I’d move it to a place a lot closer to a window or a spot where the sunlight will hit it at least for 4 hours or more! And yes, once you move it, I’d switch to watering it every 2-3 weeks or so instead! If you haven’t watered it in awhile, i would water it now too and make sure to water throughly (unless the soil is still pretty moist)!

I would saw too far from the sun. And if it’s too far the soil might be staying wet for too long for those guys. I would check for root rot and move closer to the window

I’ll check the roots this morning to see the health of the plant, just learnt to snip any brown ones too. Thank you for your advice

Update - I went to change the soil, without me even touching it, majority of the roots just fell straight off with the soil, think they were totally gone. I’ve since got rid of the brown roots, put new soil in, a bit of plant feed, got it sat at the window for maximum light, and hoping for the best with its core stem. Might be a lost cause but heres hoping🤞

It’s def good you checked the roots! Aloe is a pretty sturdy plant - so I think there’s hope and time will tell! (Also I think the plant feed is fine if you just added it to the soil but I’ve heard you’re not supposed to fertilize plants if they’re sick - it can cause them to become more stressed. So maybe don’t fertilize until you see some signs that it’s recovering/doing better! Just thought it was worth mentioning since you’ve already went thru the trouble of repotting 🥹😆
