Got this big Xanadu philodendron on clearance the other day. It's been trying to push out this new leaf, but I noticed some brown and when I peeked inside I saw the majority of the leaf is wilted. Is there any I can try to save this leaf, or should I just chop it so the plant can focus its energy on new healthy leaves?

That usually happens due to a lack of humidity, or the soil being too wet/dry. Since you got the plant like this, it likely doesn’t mean it was anything you did to happen again. I would leave it, maybe add some fertilizer and humidity if you hadn’t already since there isn’t much you could do to help make the browning go away, only prevent it from happening to future leaves

Yeah the soil was pretty dry when I got it. I've just been spraying the leaf and praying lol

Oh okay, just be consistent with her care routine and she should be fine!

The brown won't come back unfortunately. I've bought a few plants that end up with stuck leaves because they didn't have enough humidity in store. And I always end up either chopping them, or cutting off the 1/2 that's brown.

Shipping can always cause problems, especially if the truck is delayed. They come crammed in boxes and bags so stuff happens unfortunately. I'm referring to shipping to a greenhouse not to an individual. Or maybe it's both.

Judging by the lightness in color, that looks like a brand new leaf that just hasn’t unfurled yet. I did see the brown and I’m not sure what to do about that. Like someone said above maybe cut the brown 1/2 off after the leaf has unfurled and matured a little. I’m sure the browning will be more prevalent then and you can chop it.

I have a jungle boogie like this and if the “brown on the inside” is the same as what arrow 1 is pointing to, don’t worry at all! They tend to start orangey brown and green over time once they unfurl. The brown spot near arrow two can be from lack of humidity or abrasion. Nothing too serious to worry about. Hopefully this helps; sorry if I misunderstood your question 😂
